What we do

Our approach to conscious casting is supported by evidence-based creative practice within Melbourne’s community theatre as creatives, theatre makers and producers. 

Amidst the discourse for equal representation for artists of all backgrounds, ethnicities, genders and physicalities, we have observed a gap in the consistency and integrity of casting processes and procedures within community theatre. Conscious Casting facilitates conversations, interactions and engagement events for theatre companies, creatives, and performers to take reasonable action for embracing diversity within our community, and the performing arts.
